About The Concept

  • The Building -701 S Bond St in Fell’s Point, Baltimore MD (corner of Aliceanna and Bond)

  • What is there now?  - This is the former site of Fletcher’s (1945-2009), The Get Down (2010-2015) and recently Sir Duke (2017-2019). The MCL will be located on the 2nd floor in it’s own separate space. The MCL will have a distinct entrance on Aliceanna St. The MCL space will be removed from the current BD-7 liquor license for the building.

  • Who is opening this? - In 1989 Bryan and Andrea Burkert  arrived in Fell’s Point . Since then they have opened: The Sound Garden (1993-Present), ONE (2000-sold 2003), Fletcher’s, The Get Down, Sir Duke and The Rockwell  (2013-Present). The creative partners involved in this new project are diverse, talented and well-renowned.

  • What will occupy the first floor? - The 1st floor will be a restaurant called Bird on a Wire. The same BD-7 Liquor License that the building has had since 1945, will continue to be in effect for the entire 1st floor and the hallway/bathroom area on the 2nd level. The second floor bathrooms will also be shared by the MCL. The lounge patrons will have to exit the MCL to reach the bathrooms. The main entrance for the restaurant will be on Bond St.

  • What is Bird on a Wire? - The owners of Las Lap in NYC https://www.laslapnewyork.com/ are working with Chef Kelvin Fernandez on this restaurant/cocktail spot.

  • Tell me about the Chef for Bird on a Wire - Bird on a Wire is a concept from Chef Kelvin Fernandez. He started at Michelin-starred Water’s Edge in Long Island City under renowned chef George Masraff. Equipped with French training and fine dining know-how, Fernandez became the youngest executive chef ever on New York City’s fine dining scene at the tender age of 22.
